$2 million up for grabs with Mobil Golden Boots
Some of the world’s best goal kickers have hailed from here, and now BNZ Crusaders fans will have the chance to join the goal kicking hall of fame and earn a share of $2 million in the process. This season’s new Mobil Golden Boots competition will see one lucky fan at each home game attempt to kick their way to $250k, thanks to Mobil and the BNZ Crusaders.
The Golden Boots competition is open to anyone who spends $40 or more at Mobil on fuel and buys a ticket to a BNZ Crusaders home game. Simon Parham, Retail Strategy Manager at Mobil said they were really excited about partnering the BNZ Crusaders for Mobil Golden Boots this season.
“I’m sure this is going to be a hugely entertaining and exciting competition to watch and we are proud to be involved. We know that there is some serious kicking talent out there so hopefully we will discover some of them through this competition and see someone kick all the way to the $250,000 prize!” Mr Parham said.
The competition involves a series of kicks starting at 10m for $1,000, and the amount will increase for each 10m distance achieved until the kicker has the option to kick from 50m for $250,000.
“A great aspect of the promotion is that it will add a very entertaining element to the halftime at each BNZ Crusaders home game”, BNZ Crusaders CEO Hamish RIach said. “We pride ourselves on delivering a full evening of entertainment at each of our home games, from the dancers and the horses right through until the final whistle. This competition adds to that complete entertainment package and we know that fans will add their voice to urge each competitor to take another kick to reach the $250,000 prize.”
To launch Mobil Golden boots, the BNZ Crusaders are holding a mini Golden Boots competition at their training ground, Rugby Park, next Wednesday 10 February. All elite and non-elite kickers are welcome to come along and have a kick, learn more about the Mobil Golden Boots competition, enjoy a More FM BBQ, meet some of the Crusaders coaches, and win some prizes (we’re not giving away the $250,000 just yet!).
There will be two grades, 14 – 18 years and 19+ years, and 50 of the best kickers at the launch will be invited to an exclusive kicking clinic with BNZ Crusaders coaches and players the following Wednesday evening.
The official Mobil Golden Boots competition opens on 15 February when tickets go on sale for the first home game at Christchurch’s AMI Stadium, BNZ Crusaders vs Chiefs on 27 February. All Crusaders season ticket holders will also have the option to enter each game week, all they need to do is make a qualifying fuel purchase at Mobil during the game week promotional period.
