Hundreds get first look at Boks during open training session
Nelspruiters turned up in their hundreds at the Mbombela Stadium on Monday afternoon to get their first look at the Springbok team during a free open training and signing session.
For both players and spectators alike, the training session was a fitting precursor to the Castle Lager Rugby Championship match against Argentina this Saturday.
The Springbok forward pack was first to take the field on the day, going through their lineout moves with assistant coach Johann van Graan. They were followed by the backline, with former Steval Pumas player Faf de Klerk receiving the biggest welcome of the session. Current Steval Pumas players were also proud to be on the field to act as a defensive line against the Boks. The crowd was kept thoroughly entertained by some slick backline moves from the national side, along with one or two successful interceptions by the provincial team.
The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the signing session, as members of the public left the stadium with not only a free Springbok branded t-shirt, but also autographs from their heroes.
Tickets are still available for the big game this Saturday. Be sure to book your seat on computicket.com or at any Computicket outlet. Prices range from R100 up to R500. In addition to parking at the stadium, there will be 9 park-and-ride venues available throughout Nelspruit. For enquiries, email george@pumas.co.za or call 013 757 4606.
