All tickets for this evening’s Investec Super Rugby match between the Crusaders and Highlanders at Christchurch’s new AMI Stadium (Addington) have sold, including the additional 3,300 seats available in the new temporary stand.  The New Zealand Rugby Union  and the Christchurch Stadium Trust have installed the temporary stand for the All Blacks v Ireland Steinlager Series test match on 16 June and Crusaders CEO Hamish Riach said  the Crusaders were delighted to have it up in time for the Highlanders game.

“This will be a classic southern derby match and interest in the game has been strong.  It is great that even more people can come along to the stadium and be part of the atmosphere tonight,” Mr Riach said.

Mr Riach said it is vital that people take into account the larger crowd and Friday night traffic when planning their transport to the stadium.

“We haven’t encountered the challenge of a Friday night game at the new AMI Stadium in Addington yet so people need to remember that the roads around this area are already very congested on a Friday night and will be even more so because of the game.  There is also an event on at the neighbouring CBS Arena this evening so, as well as the extra 3,300 people coming along to the rugby, there will be another crowd of people heading to that event.

“I urge people to allow more time that normal to get to the stadium, to plan to get there early, and to take advantage of the free buses heading to the stadium,” Mr Riach said.

Information about the free buses is available at www.metroinfo.co.nz.  Gates open at 6pm and there will be entertainment leading up to the kick-off at 7:35pm.
