Heinrich Brüssow back for the Cheetahs against Province
Morgan Piek – Naka Drotské has been forced to make changes to his side that narrowly lost against the Sharks in Durban last weekend. Most notably is the return of Heinrich Brüssow, who starts at flank for the Toyota Free State Cheetahs. The Springbok returns after a lengthy lay-off due to a knee injury and is keen to impress Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer, who doesn’t seem to favour him.
With a long list of injuries, the Cheetahs have recalled old stalwart Hendro Scholtz to help out at the central South African team. Scholtz hasn’t played any rugby since he retired from the game in May. Scholtz finds himself on the bench and may very well play forty minutes on Saturday as Heinrich Brüssow will not play the entire game.
Once again Nico Scheepers is in the starting lineup at wing in favour of the seasoned campaigner Rayno Benjamin. Scheepers will be in charge of the kicking duties as was the case in Durban. This is being done to keep the pressure off of embattled flyhalf Sias Ebersohn. The Cheetahs can ill afford to lose Ebersohn, seeing that is is the only fit or available flyhalf at their disposal.
Kabamba Floors will undergo a late fitness test after picking up and injury to the knee, however it is still highly doubtful the flamboyant flanker will play at all this weekend. With Frans Viljoen breaking his arm yet again last weekend, the loosie department is very thin at the moment with Boom Prinsloo and Philip van der Walt still out of contention.
Andries Strauss returns to the starting lineup after “serving some time” for his ill discipline. Although he was never punished by SARU, the union opt to reprimand and punish by dropping him for a few games. Barry Geel who had been starting in his place for the past few games has been dropped from the match day 22.
