Hurricanes pick Weepu for Waratahs clash
Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper has named Piri Weepu at scrumhalf for his side’s crucial clash with the Waratahs despite the All Black scrumhalf limping out of practice with an ankle injury.
The ‘Canes will give Weepu as much time as possible to recover ahead of the game in Sydney on Friday, but have lined up Tyson Keats and Chris Eaton as replacement should Weepu fail to recover in time.
All Black centre Conrad Smith returns from injury to start alongside Ma’a Nonu. Victor Vito lost his fitness race and will not travel to Sydney with the squad.
