Waterkloof – Noordheuwel – WK#13 Dewald Lindeque

Saturday 30 March 2013

Play at our 18th Easter Rugby Festival on Thursday commenced on a wonderful Autumn day. Games played were a lot more evenly matched as opposed to day one. A number of the games were played with a tremendous amount of talent on show.

Windhoek Gymnasium edged out Hoërskool Noordheuwel in a tight affair. Hoërskool Marais Viljoen proved to be too strong for the exciting New Orleans team. The Lions team fought back really hard from their display on Thursday, showing lots of character. However, Daniel Pienaar proved to be too strong for them in the end.

The hosts squandered many opportunities to go down in a tight affair against St John’s Harare whilst Paarl Boys’ High forced their number one status in schoolboy rugby by thrashing the tourists from the UK.

The main game lived up to all expectations with both sides showing a tremendous amount of skill and exciting rugby. Hoërskool Waterkloof proved too strong for Hoërskool Nelspruit by winning 22 – 17.

All in all the day proved to be very successful and we look forward to the third and final day of this year’s festival on Monday.

Good morning from an overcast and cool Johannesburg with a current temperature of 18°C.  A high of 25ºC is predicted later in the day.  After a typical Highveld thunderstorm last night, Burger field is in tip top condition and very conducive to another exciting day of rugby.
