South Africa u/18 side crushes the French
The South African u/18 high performance squad performed well by beating their French counterparts 25-5 at the ABSA Stadium in East London.
The French had no answer to a very physical SA forward pack and were forced into giving away penalties.
Grey flyhalf Johan Goosen was their ultimate downfall, kicking five penalties in the first 28minutes and putting Craig Barry away in the corner for the first try of the match.
The French managed to score a consolation try in the 57minute but their dismal kicking performance continued and Mele missed the conversion.
Craig Barry struck soon after with his second try. This time in the opposite corner of the field. Goosen failing to convert both tries from the touch-line.
The French will be very unhappy with their poor handling and discipline. They made far too many basic errors and were subsequently punished through Goosen’s boot.
South Africa, France, England and Namibia are all playing in a Four Nations tournament held in the Eastern Cape.
South Africa’s next match is against Namibia on 20 July and they play England on 23 July.
