Australia’s Rugby Sevens has received a timely boost with seven of the country’s most talented players signing on until the end of 2015 to help lead Australia’s quest to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

This year’s Qantas Men’s Sevens player of the Year, Con Foley and fellow Queenslander, Nick Malouf, together with Cameron Clark, Jesse Parahi and Peter Schuster from NSW, Victoria’s Allan Fa’alava’au and the ACT’s Tom Cusack will all continue the journey on the Sevens pathway.

It is welcome news for Australia’s Rugby Sevens with the experience and talent amongst these key players set to strengthen the Qantas Men’s Sevens Olympic qualification process across the next two years.

Other Qantas Men’s Sevens players on current contracts, including Ed Jenkins, Shannon Walker, Pama Fou and Lewis Holland, will be up for renewal from 2014.

The Aussie Men’s Road to Rio is already in full swing with the Qantas Men’s Sevens recording a series of scintillating victories to progress to the Cup Final against New Zealand during the opening round of the 2013/2014 HSBC Sevens World Series on the Gold Coast in October.

The men will be looking to continue this form in the next World Series round which takes place in Dubai next week on the 29th and 30th of November.

The Qantas Women’s team will kick off their IRB Sevens World Series campaign  with the first round also taking place in Dubai on the 28th and 29th of November.

The Qantas Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams for the upcoming World Series rounds in Dubai will be announced tomorrow.

The two teams will train at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen, NSW this Friday 22 and Saturday 23 November before travelling to Dubai.
