Australian Rugby Union today announced the Qantas Wallabies will take on France in a three Test series in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney next year as part of The Castrol EDGE France Tour.

It will be the first tour to Australia by a French international Test side since 2009 when they lost 22 to 6 to the Wallabies in Sydney.

The 2014 Castrol EDGE France Tour will kick off on Saturday 7 June at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium at 8:00pm AEST, followed by the second Test a week later at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday 14 June at 8:00pm AEST.

The three Test series will culminate with a final afternoon match on Saturday 21 June at 3:00pm AEST at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

Les Bleus are not to be underestimated with history showing impressive performances against Rugby powerhouses, including the All Blacks.

The last time Australia faced France they suffered a heavy 33 to 6 defeat during the Wallabies opening 2012 Spring Tour match in Paris against a French side described as ‘powerful and flamboyant’.

There’s no doubt in 2014 the Men in Gold will be looking for vengeance.

It was a different story in 2010 when Australia had a strong 59-16 win over France. The 43 point margin was a record for Australia in both their home and away matches against the French.

Australia and France have played each other in 42 Test matches. Australia has won 23, France has won 17 times, while two have been drawn.

The Tour for the French will follow their annual campaign against England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales as part of the European Six Nations Championship in February and March 2014.

France slumped to last place in the last 2013 Six Nations, however recent Tests against South Africa, Tonga and New Zealand in the current November Internationals, and their three-Test series tour of New Zealand earlier this year, have earned the French crucial experience against some of world Rugby’s best.

Tickets to The Castrol EDGE France Tour will go on sale to the general public in May next year.
