Two days out from their first pre-season match of the year, the Blues 2014 season is shaping up well both on and off the field following the announcement of a major sponsorship deal with nib today.
The partnership complements the health insurer’s relationship with Blues new recruit and nib brand ambassador Benji Marshall who is poised to play his first professional rugby union game on Saturday. It also builds on the company’s role as official health insurer of the New Zealand Rugby Players Association (NZRPA).
Announcing the sponsorship, nib CEO Rob Hennin said backing the Blues was a great alignment for New Zealand’s second largest health insurer.
“nib is a relatively new brand to New Zealand and we see the Blues partnership as an ideal fit to help grow our business.
“Through our partnership with the Blues, the nib logo will appear on the team’s playing shorts, as well as other official team apparel and ground signage at Eden Park for the next three Super Rugby seasons,” Mr Hennin said.
Blues fans can also expect to see plenty of the nib brand during the season. As a long-time sponsor of sports across the Tasman, nib is known for supporting and enhancing spectator and fan experience.
According to Mr Hennin, nib is taking an aggressive approach to building its brand and connecting with consumers as well as Blues fans across the country.
“We plan to bring a whole new level of excitement and atmosphere to Blues games and how we interact with the fans and spectators – there’ll be no mistaking who’s team we’re backing,” Mr Hennin added.
Blues CEO Michael Redman said he was delighted to welcome nib to the sponsor family.
“The nib partnership is a significant new three year sponsorship agreement for the Blues and we welcome them to the sponsor family. The nib brand will take pride of place on both our playing and training apparel,” Mr Redman said.
“We are delighted that nib identified Super Rugby and the Blues as one of the primary partners for their launch into the New Zealand market. They join us at an exciting time in the evolution of the Blues franchise on and off the field and we look forward to a successful future together.”
