Lions injury update
The Lions medical staff have released an injury update, ahead of Saturday’s opening Super Rugby game against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
Bees Roux, who was stretchered from the field during Friday night’s warm-up game against The Sharks, has been cleared to play. He sustained a severe neck stinger and was only assisted from the field as a precaution.
On another positive note, no players sustained injuries during both games held at Ellis Park on Friday.
The three players currently recovering from shoulder injuries, namely Anthony Volmink, Elton Jantjies and Ruan Dreyer, continue to make good progress. Dreyer is being considered for this weekend’s game following a rapid recovery, while Jantjies and Volmink are expected to be ready to play within the next fortnight.
