Vodacom Rugby Stats App FREE to download now

South African rugby fans now have access to one of the most comprehensive rugby stats Apps in the world with the Vodacom Rugby Stats App. The App is free to download now.

Developed in partnership with New Media Publishing, the App will be updated live (every 90 secs) throughout the 2014 Vodacom SupeRugby season with an array of the most in-depth statistics in the game.

From Try Assists to Clean Breaks, Missed Tackles and more, the Vodacom Rugby Stats App will allow fans to keep up to date with the kind of cutting-edge game analysis previously reserved only for the coaching and technical staff of professional teams.

The App is one of the pillars of the 2014 Vodacom SupeRugby marketing campaign, which is aimed at rewarding the die-hard supporter by distinguishing fact from fiction when it comes to discussions about teams and player performance.

The Vodacom Rugby Stats App will take the rugby conversation around a braai to an entirely new level. And the live updates during a match, using data from Opta, will make for the most interactive rugby viewing experience in the world.

“We consulted with fans and investigated what it was that they wanted. As title sponsor for Vodacom SupeRugby we felt that one of the key areas where we could add value, to both the fans at home and at the stadium, was to reward the die-hard rugby supporters with statistics that previously were only available to team management. We took this opportunity and are bringing to you world-class innovation in an App that will transform the way supporters consume rugby”, says Mzamo Masito, Managing Executive of Vodacom.

Every community has an unspoken code, a set of rules they live by. This is what we at Vodacom call the Gees code. We want to celebrate those gees codes by giving our fans the opportunity to win their seat at the Final. This is the season when rugby gets serious, because let’s face it, the Gees code is not for those who just watch the game, it’s for those who know the game.

By downloading the App and registering supporters are automatically entered into the draw to win the trip of a lifetime. Five lucky fans could be joining us on the popular Vodacom SuperGees Fan Tour at the end of the Vodacom SupeRugby season. By living the No1 Gees Code “Thou shalt know your rugby” fans could win an all-expenses paid trip to the 2014 Vodacom SupeRugby Final, wherever in the world that may be. And if the Final is in South Africa, no expense will be spared on creating the rugby experience of a lifetime.

“Essentially, this is an App for the hard-core rugby fan,” says Andrew “Tank” Lanning, a former Western Province prop and now a well-respected rugby analyst who consulted on the development of this App.

“The App extends the game beyond the 80-minute play period and gives people the kind of information they’ve always wanted to truly analyse the game on social media or over a beer with their mates.”
