Scotland squad player update
The Scotland medical team provided the following squad update after yesterday’s RBS 6 Nations loss to Ireland at BT Murrayfield.
Loose-head prop Euan Murray suffered a concussion and a nose injury, and is subject to the graduated return to play protocol.
Tight-head prop Ryan Grant sustained a knee injury. Indications at present are that he will not require surgery, but will require a short period of rehabilitation.
Centre Mark Bennett was removed from the field of play for HIA (head injury assessment) and was not returned.
He sustained a soft tissue neck injury, which will require a short period of rest and rehabilitation.
Bennett will still be required to fulfil the remainder of the HIA process. The HIA process comprises three elements, HIA 1 (immediate pitch-side assessment), HIA 2 (post-match assessment) and HIA 3 (re-assessment at 48 hours post-match).
Dougie Fife required suturing of a nasal laceration during the game.
With the conclusion of the RBS 6 Championship, the Scotland squad will now return to the care of their respective clubs’ medical teams.
