Vodacom Rugby App Review – Playoffs

The 2015 Vodacom SupeRugby season may have ended in tears for the DHL Stormers but centre Damian de Allende showed once again that he was not a flash in the pan.

De Allende had been the epitome of consistency this year with stellar performances week after week.

While the Stormers team were found wanting in their home qualifier against the Brumbies, De Allende rose to the occasion with the statistics from the Vodacom Rugby App reflecting as much.

Illusive with the ball in hand De Allende topped the Carries, Defenders Beaten, and Clean Breaks categories this weekend to underline the class he has exuded this year.

De Allende made 17 Carries for a total of four Clean Breaks, and getting the better of 12 defenders on Saturday.

He shared the clean breaks top spot with the Brumbies’ Jesse Mogg and Waisake Naholo of the Highlanders.

His nearest rival in terms of Defenders Beaten is Naholo with six less while De Allende’s team-mate Cheslin Kolbe is third along with the Brumbies’ Ita Vaea with five apiece.

Michael Leitch of the Chiefs made the same amount of Carries as De Allende with Stormers wing Dillyn Leyds making 14.

The Chiefs’ Damian McKenzie the third most carries with his 13 while Stormers flanker Siya Kolisi also made it into the top-five with 12.

Kolbe topped the Metres Run bracket with the 125 metres he made with De Allende shortly behind him in second place with the 118m he ran.

Stormers flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis’ 14 points he contributed was the second highest of the weekend behind Joe Tomane of the Brumbies with 15 courtesy of the hat-trick he scored against the Capetonians.

Catrakilis and Sopoaga share first place for the four penalties they slotted in their respected matches.
