WP, Border on form in U18 Girls Week
Western Province and Border emerged as the two top sides in the SARU Girls Under-18 Week at Glenwood High School in Durban on Wednesday after registering their second round of victories to emerge as the only two unbeaten sides.
Western Province built on their morale-boosting 74-0 victory in the opening round with a convincing 64-0 victory against SWD, while Border defeated Zimbabwe 27-0.
The Western Cape side again displayed their high standards on attack as they ran in an impressive 10 tries, while Border built on their 17-0 halftime lead against Zimbabwe and managed to cross the tryline five times in total.
Both teams also maintained their high standards on defence resulting in no points being scored against them so far in the competition.
In the other matches, Free State registered the biggest score of the day as they secured a 71-0 victory against the Valke after touching down 13 times, while Eastern Province cruised to a 43-0 win against the Pumas and hosts, KwaZulu-Natal, secured an 18-0 victory against Boland.
The Limpopo Blue Bulls and Griquas also bounced back from their round-one defeats as they beat the Griffons and Leopards respectively.
The players will have Thursday off and will play the final round of matches on Friday.
