Injury concern for Jan Serfontein
Springbok centre Jan Serfontein injured his wrist playing Vodacom Super Rugby two weeks ago, and the initial x-rays showed no fracture. However, while at the Springbok camp, his wrist did not improve as expected and as a result further medical examinations were done.
The player was sent for x-rays on Thursday and a further scan on Friday confirmed that he has suffered a scaphoid fracture. He will be managed by a hand specialist in Pretoria and is expected to be out of action for four months.
Springbok coach, Allister Coetzee, confirmed no one would be called up to replace Serfontein as he believes they have enough midfield cover.
The Springbok squad completed their first week of training on Friday morning in Stellenbosch and they will reassemble on Sunday afternoon in Cape Town.
