New Zealand’s premier stadium, Eden Park, and ASB are encouraging rugby fans to help set a world record number of selfies taken within a stadium at Saturday’s Bledisloe Cup test match in Auckland.
As the All Blacks take on the Wallabies in their last home game of the year, they’ll be eyeing up a world record among tier one rugby nations with 18 consecutive test wins, and what better place to set the record than at New Zealand’s most iconic stadium?
To mark the occasion, fans will be encouraged to take a selfie or group photo while they cheer on their favourite team at Eden Park. Fans can then upload the image to Facebook or Instagram tagging #ASBfanwall using complimentary stadium WiFi sponsored by ASB.
As part of the record-breaking selfie attempt, fans will also become part of Eden Park’s history as each image will be collated to create a fan wall, to feature within the iconic stadium for years to come.
“This year has been a triumphant one for Eden Park and New Zealand Rugby,” says Eden Park CEO, Guy Ngata.
“We want to permanently stamp the 2016 season in history, and there’s no better moment than the final Bledisloe Cup test match, and including a sold-out crowd.”
“Thanks to the Wi-Fi supplied by ASB, fans are encouraged to upload a selfie to their social media accounts to become part of Eden Park’s great history. Being able to spot your photo on the wall every time you head to a game at New Zealand’s largest stadium is not an opportunity to be missed.”

ASB Executive General Manager Marketing and Communications Roger Beaumont is proud to be part of the bid to break the “selfie” world record at Eden Park.
“ASB is pleased to work alongside Eden Park as we attempt to make history with the world record number of selfies within a stadium. As the bank that backs New Zealand rugby, we’re delighted to provide complimentary Wi-Fi for rugby fans so that everyone has the opportunity to get involved in attempting to set the record.”
