Vodafone Rugby Road Trip to showcase New Zealand to the world
Auckland – Northland – Canterbury – Wellington – Queenstown – Dunedin – Rotorua – Waikato – Manawatu – Hawke’s Bay – Whanganui – Taranaki
New Zealand Rugby and their connectivity partner Vodafone have joined forces to take the DHL New Zealand Lions Series 2017 to the four corners of the country over the next six weeks with the Vodafone Rugby Road Trip.
A pair of unmissable Vodafone and All Blacks themed campervans are currently in Auckland in preparation for the Blues against the British & Irish Lions and will continue during the Lions Series to showcase the best of New Zealand as over 20,000 Lions fans descend on the country.
The innovative rugby roundtrip exploring New Zealand’s towns and cities will present Aotearoa to more thanĀ 12 million rugby fans around the world. Regular reports on on-field and off-field pursuits will feature on Allblacks Facebook and Twitter.
New Zealand Rugby’s Digital Content Editor, Andy Burt said the purpose of the roadie was to connect New Zealand’s tourism and cultural highlights to thousands of fans coming to New Zealand for the DHL New Zealand Lions Series.
“The plan is to get off the beaten track and showcase just what this country has to offer visiting rugby fans. But we also know that there are All Blacks fans around the world who can’t make it to the matches so thanks to Vodafone, we’re connecting them with the Series.
“It’s a tough job, but someone had to do it.”
Featuring rugby personalities, unique characters and hundreds of passionate travelling fans, the Vodafone Rugby Road Trip will bring the DHL NZ Lions Series to life across social media.
“Vodafone’s sponsorship of the teams in Black takes rugby into the future and the Vodafone Rugby Road Trip takes the game back to its roots right throughout New Zealand,” said Vodafone Consumer Director Matt Williams.
As well as providing wifi from the campervans, Vodafone is giving away phones and match tickets on the tour and staff from Vodafone stores around the country will welcome the roadie in each destination.
A diehard British & Irish Lions fan and former employee of the English Rugby Football Union, Emma Kennedy, has travelled from London to report on the Series and provide a visitor’s perspective of New Zealand as the host country. From the buzz and excitement of game day to the thrill and adventure of New Zealand’s top tourist activities, fans will experience much of the action – on and off the field.
“I’ve heard New Zealand is a welcoming country, so I just can’t wait to see what kind of experience it will deliver to the 20,000 international visitors.
The Vodafone Rugby Road Trip is on tour to 12 regions around the country until 8 July.
