England will compete in the second leg of the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series this weekend (10-11 June) in Lodz, Poland.

England have made two changes to the squad that travelled to Moscow last weekend for round one of the European tournaments where they came ninth and took home the Challenge Trophy.

Alex Davis is rested this weekend and is replaced by Charlie Kingham (Loughborough University), while Harry Glover (Newcastle University) will replace Fergus Guiry who remains in the UK to focus on his studies.

Commenting ahead of Poland, England Sevens head coach Simon Amor, said: “The boys made a good start to their European campaign against some really tough and experienced teams last weekend. We’re very pleased with how this young group continue to perform, and the two good wins on day two to secure ninth in Moscow is encouraging.

“It was disappointing to lose Callum Sirker in the first game last weekend but we’re pleased to see that he’s fit again for Poland.

“The two changes in Charlie Kingham – who comes from Loughborough University and who has been involved with our academy programme previously – and Harry Glover are very exciting and it’s great to be welcoming these guys on board for the weekend.

“This competition provides us with a great opportunity to develop this young group of players where we expect them to perform at their very best. The remaining European tournaments are extremely important, especially as we build up to the Mitsubishi Motors Exeter 7s where we will finish the season before pushing forward with preparations for the next HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.”

England will face Italy, Russia and Wales in the pool stages on Saturday 10 June, all of which will be live streamed on RugbyEurope.tv.
