Wilco Louw, Dan du Preez, Raymond Rhule and S’busiso Nkosi have re-joined the Springbok squad in Cape Town where the group got its preparations underway for this weekend’s final Castle Lager Rugby Championship fixture against the All Blacks.

The Test, scheduled for a 17h05 kick-off on Saturday, will take place at DHL Newlands in Cape Town.

The four joined the rest of the Springbok squad on Sunday evening in the Mother City following their involvement in the weekend’s Currie Cup and Guinness PRO14 competitions. Louw (prop) played off the bench for DHL Western Province on Sunday afternoon, Rhule (wing) was in action for the Toyota Cheetahs on Friday evening, and Du Preez (loose forward) and Nkosi (wing) ran out for the Cell C Sharks on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, Springbok No 8 Uzair Cassiem was on Monday ruled out of action for up to six weeks as a result of the rib injury he sustained against the Wallabies this past weekend in Bloemfontein. Cassiem left the field early in the first half and was replaced by Jean-Luc du Preez.

“Uzair sustained a fractured rib and it will take him about six weeks to recover,” confirmed Dr Konrad von Hagen, the Springbok team doctor.

“Apart from the normal bumps and bruises after a very hard Test match, the rest of the players are in good health. Actually, if you look at us going through a tough Castle Lager Rugby Championship and the strenuous Vodacom Super Rugby competition, then I am glad to report that the rest of the squad are all able to train this afternoon (Monday).”

“From a medical and conditioning point of view, we are in a very good space.”

A number of Springbok supporters watched the Bok squad’s open training session on Monday afternoon at the Cape Town Stadium. The Springboks will announce their match 23 on Thursday.
