PUMLANI NODIKIDA ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

EP Kings prop, Pumlani Nodikida, suffered an unfortunate injury in the SA Kings’ last match against Portugal in Bucharest. The injury occurred when the scrum collapsed and his C6 vertabra slipped onto the C7 resulting in pressure being put on the spinal cord.

The three organizations namely; the IRB, SARU and EPRU have been working closely together to ensure the best possible care for Pumlani.

Yesterday (Monday 21 June) he had a successful operation and has already regained sensation of his movements and lower limbs. He will continue with his rehab in Romania and once medically declared fit to fly he’ll return home to continue further rehabilitation work.

Arthur Dayimani, SA Kings’ Team Manager, has stayed behind with Nodikida.

In another medical update Andre Schechter who was removed from the field of play because of an irregular heartbeat is currently seeing a specialist to determine the root-cause of the heart palpitations.

We are wishing both players speedy recoveries and we look forward to welcoming Nodikida back home.
