Dragons Rugby have confirmed that prop Gerard Ellis has been released early from this contract to join English club Coventry Rugby.

The 26-year-old loosehead prop moved to the Butts Park Arena at the end of last week to join his new team-mates.

The former Wales Under-18 international made his Coventry debut as a second half replacement in the defeat to London Irish in the Greene King IPA Championship on Saturday.

Ellis made a total of 20 appearances for Dragons in all competitions, after making his regional debut in September 2017 against Connacht Rugby.

The Southampton-born front row – who converted from hooker to prop this season – had previously playing spells with London Irish, London Scottish and Llandovery.

Ellis, who was due to join Coventry in the summer, said: “It’s great to be joining Coventry Rugby at a really exciting time for the club.”

Everyone at Dragons would like to thank Gerard for his efforts during his time at the region and with him every success in the future with Coventry Rugby.
