The All Blacks Sevens have won the Plate at the HSBC Canada Sevens, with a 26-19 victory over England in their Final.

The fifth-place finish sees the All Blacks Sevens retain second spot on the HSBC World Series standings, seven points behind USA who are in first.

On day one the All Blacks Sevens started strong with a 45-7 victory over France before dropping their second pool match 24-26 to Spain.

That set up a must-win final pool match against Australia to advance to the Cup quarter-finals. A strong showing, including a brace of tries to Joe Ravouvou sealed the 36-12 win.

For the second week in a row a quarter-final against Fiji loomed and yet another thrilling encounter between the teams saw Fiji score in the closing play of the game to win 22-21.

Missing the Cup semi-finals for the first time this season, the All Blacks Sevens went on to claim the Plate, beating Argentina 26-21 before overcoming England 26-19 in the Final.

South Africa claimed the Vancouver crown, their first title this season. They defeated France in the Final 21-12.

The All Blacks Sevens team return to New Zealand to prepare for the next two legs of the HSBC World Series in Hong Kong and Singapore next month.
