Students, get down to your local varsity canteen for a smooth cuppa joe as the Absa Currie Cup of Coffee hits campuses nationwide on the 15th of July. Make sure you get your supporter’s cup of coffee and align yourself with South Africa’s premier rugby tournament.

 

Harnessing people’s love of coffee and rugby, the thrilling, action-packed Absa Currie Cup is inviting fan participation in the oldest competition of its kind anywhere in the world. Celebrating its 122nd birthday this year, the Absa Currie Cup is SA’s very own tournament brimming with heritage and nostalgia, not to mention as steaming hot and irresistible as your favourite winter morning brew!

 

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has made sure that the rugby-enthused student will be wholly included in this year’s fan-filled and exciting tournament. Covering 11 campuses nationwide from UCT to WITS and from Tukkies to Monash, 100,000 cups of branded coffee will be launched within their student network for the first month of the tournament, to drive interest in not only the tournament but more specifically to their 2011 call to action “What would you do for your team?”.

 

These exclusively branded coffee cups tie in directly with the phenomenal, first-of-its-kind, social media marketing strategy for the 2011 Absa Currie Cup. Serving as a strong reminder of the call to action, students are encouraged visit the website, www.absacurriecup.co.za and stand a chance of winning the ultimate prize of R100,000, simply for showing what they would do for their favourite Absa Currie Cup team.

 

Those with no video camera accessibility need not despair! Finalists for the best tournament photo as voted by the public will also stand the chance of winning R20 000. By simply registering on the site, whether you enter or not, you automatically gain entry into the R1000 weekly cash prize.
