Toyota Cheetah wing, Craig Barry with David Mokesha, a taxi driver who has no income due to the lockdown. He and his wife, Mitah Molloa, have five kids in a shack with have no income.
Craig Barry, the Toyota Cheetah wing, is part of the Be the Difference Foundations. Barry teamed up with volunteers Randy September and Lerato Manjiya from Free State Rugby and Genovese Barry who helped by collecting and handing out food parcels and essential goods in the Dinaweng informal settlement in Bloemfontein close to the Grootvlei prison on Saturday.
More than 28% of households in urban areas were at risk of hunger before Covid-19 hit. 21 Days of lock down might really be impossible in most Kasis in South Africa and therefore the Be the Difference Foundation decided to roll up their sleeves and help.
Lots of people, especially those in the informal settlements are going through extremely tough times during the lockdown.
“We have handed out food hampers to 20 families that consist of four members or more. We served 75 people with a meal for the day and are looking to serve more people in the coming weeks.” Barry said.
The Be the Difference Foundation would like to thank Sasko Bakery Bloemfontein, Pick ‘n Pay Mini Market Showgrounds, Kagisanong Police Station and everyone who made a donation, for the assistance to make this outreach a success .
The Foundation will be continuing to serve the less fortunate in the coming weeks and urges people to continue to donate and be the difference.
