The Cell C Sharks are delighted to announce our latest sponsorship, reconnecting with Mr Price Sport after the two iconic sporting brands enjoyed a close relationship between 2001 and 2013.

The two teams, Mr Price Sport and The Sharks, have once again been reunited, with Mr Price Sport (and its sub-brand, Maxed Elite) named as the new technical apparel sponsor.

The Sharks CEO Eduard Coetzee, who would have worn the Mr Price Sport jersey during his playing days as a prop for the Cell C Sharks, said he was very pleased with the association between the two brands.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr Price Sport back at Jonsson Kings Park as our two iconic brands reconnect after a few years. Mr Price Sport and The Sharks shared a successful and long-standing relationship for twelve years, during this time dominating the domestic rugby scene and winning three Currie Cup trophies together.”

Mr Price Sport becomes the official apparel sponsor for The Sharks ahead of the Carling Currie Cup tournament which kicks off this weekend.

“We are excited to have Mr Price Sport as a sponsor of choice and with their national footprint, our merchandise will be stocked and available at their stores countrywide, creating convenience and quality for our fans nationally,” Coetzee added.

“We look forward to this new journey ahead and together our two like-minded brands will continue to push boundaries and create exciting customer experiences.”

The Mr Price Sport team hosted a Sharks-welcoming gathering on Thursday 26 November to celebrate the kick-off (and reunion) of two of South Africa’s biggest names in sports: The Sharks, and Mr Price Sport.

Mr Price Sport’s Head of Marketing, Dylan Cherry, also commented on the collaboration, “Mr Price Sport are really excited to be partnering with The Sharks as the technical apparel partner. The Maxed Elite product team have been so energised to be working with The Sharks developing a new and innovative product.”
