A second tranche of tickets for public sale for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 – to be hosted in Cape Town in 43 days’ time – will go on sale tomorrow (Friday) morning at 09h00 (SAT).

Ticket purchases can only be made online through the official ticket agency (Ticketmaster) by visiting www.rwcsevens.com. The match schedule was released last week and a promo video explaining the competition format can be accessed here.

A limited number of tickets for Saturday and Sunday have been released but are expected to sell out fast. The original ticket issue in February sold out for Saturday and Sunday in less than 24 hours. This second ticket release is from tickets that had been reserved for commercial partners.

The event kicks off at 08h45 on Friday, 9 September, with the Springbok men’s and women’s teams bringing down the curtain on the evening of the opening day in matches against the winner of a pre-qualifier between Chile and Germany for the men and France for the women.

Day two starts at 08h15 in the morning with all 40 teams (24 men’s and 16 women’s) in action during the course of the day. The Rugby World Cup format follows a knockout format in which any defeat means the team is relegated from the Championship into a runners-up competition.

Prices range from R150 to R1,925 for the new release for the three-day spectacular which will see the eyes of the global rugby family turned on South Africa as the best players in the world from 40 teams battle for the title of men’s and women’s world champions.

A newly introduced refund protection product is available to all purchased General Access Ticket Holders to the RWC Sevens. This refund becomes possible to the ticket holder should they be unable to attend the event due to the following conditions being applicable to the ticket purchaser: accident; bodily injury; sickness commencing prior to the event; death of the ticket holder; travel delay; strikes or civil commotion. More details will be made available about this insurance on the Ticketing Website under the FAQ’s section.

Fans are reminded that the only authorized seller of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 is Ticketmaster. Purchasing from any other source provides no guarantee of actually gaining entry into the venue.
