A year on ASICS SA continues to get behind Tag Rugby® Adopt-a-School Programme in the Western Cape
– ASICS sponsored Heathfield Primary in the Tag Rugby ‘Adopt a School’ programme last year and continues to commit to and grow the cause a year on. The programme uses sport as a platform to build communities –
ASICS have been a proud sponsor of Heathfield Primary since September 2014, a school situated in Heathfield in the Western Cape. To celebrate the continuous support as well as the impact ASICS have made on the school, ASICS, the technical partner to the Springboks, hosted a Tag Rugby® clinic at Heathfield Primary on the 10th June 2015 at 10h40. On this day ASICS Ambassadors and Springbok Rugby Players including Eben Etzebeth, Seabelo Senatla and Frankie Horne attended the clinic at Heathfield Primary to inspire and engage with the students.
ASICS is derived from the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano”, meaning a “sound mind in a sound body.” Initiatives like the TAG Adopt a School Programme, will emphasise the brand heritage and commitment to sport especially in local communities, which enables them to build a better future for all.
‘’We ascribe to Tag’s vision of the Adopt-a-School Programme so this sponsorship and on-going involvement was a natural fit” says Sarah Mundy, ASICS SA Marketing Manager. Sarah continues, “Sustainability is at the heart of the ASICS DNA. When our founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, established the business in 1949, he wanted a company to be a force for positive change: a way of giving young people sense of direction in life through sport and fitness. Over time, this idea developed into a broader social purpose, enshrined in our corporate philosophy”
“The Tag Rugby® Association truly value the fact that ASICS SA have stood behind our programmes. It shows that as a Springbok clothing sponsor and global brand, ASICS, are not just concerned about their logo on the Springbok jersey but care about the community that supports the Springboks” Stuart McConnell, Tag Rugby® Association.
