Adjustment to Mitre 10 Heartland Championship bonus points system
New Zealand Rugby has today confirmed an amendment to competition regulations adjusting the bonus points system for the 2016 Mitre 10 Heartland Championship competition.
The bonus point system now allocates one point to teams who lose within eight points (previously seven points), that being the equivalent of a converted try.
Teams can now gain Mitre 10 Heartland Championship competition points in the following way:
• win = 4 points
• draw = 2 points
• 4 or more tries = 1 point
• Losing within 8 points = 1 point
The points remain the same for the Mitre 10 Cup:
• Win = 4 point
• Draw = 2 point
• 4 or more tries = 1 point
• Losing within 7 points = 1 point
The change, approved by New Zealand Rugby today, aligns with the new points system being trialled in the Mitre 10 Heartland Championship.
The change will apply retrospectively to week 1. The competition points table can be viewed here.
