Cape Town – Springbok centre Adrian Jacobs is eager to play for the Stormers after his contract with the Sharks was not renewed.

Sport24 reported on Tuesday that Jacobs is set to leave the Durban-based franchise after a frustrating 2011 season where he found himself behind Marius Joubert, Stefan Terblanche and Meyer Bosman in the pecking order, and also missed out on Springbok selection for the Rugby World Cup.

Die Burger newspaper reports that Jacobs’s contract with the Durban-based side was not renewed and that he is interested in playing his rugby in the Cape.

Jacobs was apparently on his way to Cape Town on Tuesday and said he would consider an option from the Stormers if they are interested.

“The Cape is my home and I wouldn’t easily say no if the Stormers are interested.

“I have talked to Boland but haven’t heard back from them yet,” said Jacobs.

However, the 31-year-old’s main priority at this stage is to spend as much time as possible with his family. He has an 11-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son.

He made his debut for the Sharks in 2001 and also played in 28 Tests for the Springboks.
