All Blacks Sevens to meet France in Rugby World Cup Sevens quarters
The All Blacks Sevens have advanced to the Rugby World Cup Sevens quarter finals after a day one victory over Russia.
The knock out format meant the defending champions only had one match on the opening day and put away Russia 29-5.
Winger Joe Ravouvou showed his speed and strength in his two tries and Coach Clark Laidlaw said he was happy with what he saw.
“It was a long day but I’m really happy how the guys played, it’s good to get that first game under the belt after a few weeks off and it will set us up nicely for tomorrow.”
The All Blacks Sevens await a quarter final against France, who upset Australia earlier in the day. Kick off 4.16pm tomorrow (11.16am NZT).
Game One
All Blacks Sevens 29 (Joe Ravouvou 2, Andrew Knewstubb, Kurt Baker, Tim Mikkelson tries, Andrew Knewstubb, Kurt Baker con)
