All Blacks vs Wallabies: Explosive Rugby at Eden Park
Tonight was all about getting the All Black machine back on track. With a crowd of about 48,000 strong, the evening presented perfect conditions for what most expected would be an outstanding match between the All Blacks and the Wallabies.
Liam Messam led the All Blacks in the Haka which ended with a bang as the flares went off to signal the start of an epic game.The game started quickly with 2 early penalties slotted by Aaron Cruden by the 8th minute, bringing the All Blacks to a 6-0 lead. In the 11th minute, the Wallabies answered by making a hefty go at the tryline, but the All Blacks defended with vigour and turned the ball around. Unfortunately a mishap occurred and Richie McCaw was awarded a yellow card, sending him off from the field and providing Kurtley Beale, for the Wallabies, with an opportunity to level the score to 6-6 in the 14th minute.
In the 17th minute, the All Blacks made a go for the try-line but their effort was halted and Aaron Cruden added 3 more points to the tally to bring the All Blacks to a 9-6 lead against the Wallabies. Aaron Cruden lined up for a penalty kick in the 24th minute, but missed, keeping the score at 9-6 for the All Blacks. After the kick, Richie McCaw returned to the field. The crowd was overjoyed.
In the 28th minute, the All Blacks secured a scrum right infront of the post. In the 30th minute, the All Blacks scored their first try in the Bledisloe Cup with a penalty try with Aaron Cruden slotting the conversion to bring the score to 14-6 for the All Blacks. Barely 3 minutes later, Julian Savea scored a beautiful try and Aaron Cruden added the extra points with a conversion to bring the score to 23-6 for the All Blacks at Eden Park. The score remained 23-6 at half-time.
The second half started off with Brodie Retallic turning around an onslaught by the Wallabies in the 45th minute. The attacking spirit of the All Blacks continued with superb breaks by various key players in their team. In another break-out move, Kieran Reid scored a beautiful try in the 51st minute for the All Blacks. Cruden added the conversion to bring the score to 30-6 in the 52nd minute.
In the 55th minute, the All Blacks had a line out 5 meters from the try line. They secured the ball and captain, Richie McCaw, claimed the bonus point try which was converted by Cruden to bring the tally to 37-6 for the All Blacks. In the 59th minute, Richie McCaw scored his second try which was once again converted by Cruden to bring the scoreboard to 44-6 for the All Blacks. In the 62nd minute, Israel Folau scored a try for the Wallabies which was converted by Kurtley Beale to bring the score to 44-13 for the All Blacks. In the 65th minute, the Michael Hooper scored another try for the Wallabies, converted yet again by Kurtley Beale, narrowing the gap to the All Blacks to 44-20. With both teams attacking fiercely, the score jumped to 51-20 at full-time, with Steven Luatua scoring a magnificent try and Cruden slotting the conversion to secure a convincing win for the All Blacks. This is also the biggest score that the All Blacks have ever had against the Wallabies and they have retained their beloved Bledisloe Cup with much pride.
