The 2014 Central Amateur Provincial Championship got off to an exciting start in Margate with the Sharks Club XV, Griffons, Griquas Central and Free State registering impressive victories to make their presence felt early on.
The Sharks Club XV registered the biggest victory of the day on Monday as they thumped Griquas NWK Rural 82-12, while the Griffons defeated Wildebeest Rural 42-37, Griquas Central registered a 34-10 victory against Free State Rural and Free State beat Griffons Rural 36-22.
The Sharks Club XV, in particular, were dominant from the outset against Griquas NWK Rural as they balanced their impressive attack with a fine defensive effort. Such was the high quality of their attack they built up a 49-7 lead at the break, and continued to stamp their authority until the end of the clash.
