ASICS, the True Sport Performance Brand has unveiled the Qantas Wallabies jersey and media campaign for the 2016 international Rugby season.

A host of Wallabies squad members including Israel Folau, Kurtley Beale, Bernard Foley, Rob Horne and Nick Phipps were on hand with Coach Michael Cheika and ARU CEO Bill Pulver in Sydney today to reveal the latest jersey and 2016 television campaign.

ASICS has combined the best technical elements of the 2015 Rugby World Cup jersey including light weight fabric in traditional gold and a streamlined cut for a more tapered fit for players.

The 2016 jersey also features a new neckline with white piping to emulate the much loved traditional white collar of past jerseys, and silicon gripper pads on the front to enhance players’ grip.

The jersey will be worn for the first time when the Qantas Wallabies take on England at Suncorp Stadium on 11 June in their first home Test of the year.

Today’s event also featured the first screening of the ASICS 2016 media campaign calling on all Rugby fans, supporters and athletes to ‘Want it More’.

The campaign features Wallabies players aspiring to reach the next level in their professional sporting field, pushing themselves physically and mentally harder each time to prove that they ‘Want it More’.

Featured in the campaign are ASICS ambassadors Kurtley Beale, Will Skelton, Israel Folau, Stephen Moore, Bernard Foley and Dean Mumm, along with Kane Douglas, Rob Simmons, Nick Phipps and James Slipper.

At today’s launch, Wallaby No. 867 Israel Folau spoke about the honour of wearing the national jersey and the players’ desire to take their preparation to the next level.

“I love the new jersey. It fits well, the material feels great and I’m impressed with the new cut. The colours and style are also a throwback to jerseys from the past…I think everyone is going to love it.”

“The theme of this year’s TV campaign ‘Want it More’ is perfect for our squad,” Folau said.

“We know that as a playing group, the harder we work both as individuals and as a team the more we can achieve.”

“We wanted to celebrate Australian Rugby by highlighting the passion our fans have for the game and the players’ determination to drive themselves harder every time they train or hit the field,” Managing Director, ASICS Oceania, Allan Russell said.

Speaking about the jersey, Mr Russell said that in 2016 ASICS was able to combine the best modern day design and technical elements that proudly showcase the Qantas Wallabies’ heritage.

“Feedback from the players last year was that the fit of the jersey was incredibly comfortable to play in, so it was important for us to replicate those positive features while delivering a new look for the players and the fans.”

Australian Rugby Union CEO Bill Pulver added, “As we embark on our 2016 international campaign we are delighted to have the support and endorsement of a global sports brand like ASICS. We hope the 2016 Qantas Wallabies jersey gets our fans and supporters excited about the coming season.”

The campaign will be rolled out across TV, print, online, social and sponsored events.
