The Qantas Australian Men’s Sevens team has qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Led by interim Head Coach Tim Walsh, Australia beat Tonga (50-0) in the final of the Oceania Regional Olympic Qualifying Tournament at the Trusts Arena in Auckland this afternoon.

Rugby Sevens will make its debut at the Rio Olympics in August 2016, with Rugby XV’s last appearing in the Games in 1924.

The Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens team secured their place at next year’s Olympic Games in May.
