The Qantas Wallabies, Buildcorp Wallaroos, Buildcorp National Rugby Championship grand final and the Aussie Sevens players will take centre stage this weekend in a blockbuster weekend of world class rugby.

It all kicks off on Saturday 22nd October at 2.55pm AEDT when the Buildcorp Wallaroos play their first international Test for 2016 against the Black Ferns. The Eden Park double-header match will be the first international Test for the Wallaroos since their 2014 World Cup campaign. They head into it in winning form after having overcome the Auckland Storm 21-19 on Tuesday in their first match together as a team.

Following their historic Test, the Wallabies run out at 5.30pm AEDT to take on the All Blacks in the final Bledisloe Cup match of 2016.

At 7.40pm AEDT, Tamworth will host the NSW Country Eagles’ first ever home grand final at Scully Park, led by born and bred Tamworth boy, Paddy Ryan. The Perth Spirit, who ended the regular season in third position, will undoubtedly put up a fight and be bolstered by their confidence-boosting semi-final win that saw them upset the Sydney Rays.

The finals of the Central Coast Sevens take place on Sunday. This tournament will be the first for the Australian Sevens players since August’s historic Olympic campaign, and will give players in both teams a shot at impressing the head coaches before the HSBC World Series kicks off in December. The Australians will be amongst a number of international teams vying for the top gong. The Aussie women’s squad has been split into two teams – the Australian Pearls Gold and the Australian Pearls Green – while the Aussie Men’s Sevens squad members line up in the men’s draw.

ARU General Manager of High Performance Ben Whitaker said: “This will be a great weekend for rugby fans, and there’ll be something for everyone.

“We’ll see two world-class international games at Eden Park, and a Buildcorp National Rugby Championship Grand Final full of fast-paced running rugby. The Central Coast Sevens will showcase our nation’s brightest Sevens stars – both the established players and the up-and-comers – in the toughest domestic Sevens tournament in Australia outside the Sydney7s.

“This kind of alignment between all teams and competitions has never happened before, so it’ll be amazing to watch the nation’s best women and men play across XVs and Sevens in back-to-back games.”
