Benetton Rugby team to face Toyota Cheetahs
After the second successive win in the Italian derby against Zebre Rugby Club, the Lions will return to Stadium of Monigo to face the Toyota Cheetahs.
The match, the 13th round of Guinness PRO14, will be staged at 2.15 pm and will be directed by Irish referee Frank Murphy and assistants Stuart Gaffikin and Gianluca Gnecchi. Marius Goosen: “The Cheetahs have skilled players and they are very strong in the tackles. To contain them it will be necessary to defend well and slow down their game”. The words of the South African coach were followed by those of Abraham Steyn: “It will be a tough game, the South African teams have started with some difficulties this competition but as we have seen the Cheetahs were good to adapt quickly. It will be important to be superior in the static phases: how to scrum and touche. For me it will be a special match because I will meet guys with whom I went to school together and with whom I was teammate I can not wait to take the field” – Steyn added: “We will try to bring home the result showing that Monigo is our strength, to do so we will need the support of our fans” Coach Kieran Crowley makes only two changes compared to the starting XV that defeated Zebre. Full back will be Jayden Hayward, on the wings Luca Sperandio and Monty Ioane. Tommaso Benvenuti and Alberto Sgarbi will be respectively right and left centre. The half backs are Tito Tebaldi at scrum half and Marty Banks at fly-half. The front row will consist of Nicola Quaglio, Luca Bigi and Tiziano Pasquali. Locks will be Irné Herbst and captain Dean Budd for him will be 100 apperances with Benetton Rugby. Finally, the back row sees Whetu Douglas, Abraham Steyn and Marco Barbini completing the XV chosen by Crowley.
