Bismarck benched for Hurricanes
The Sharks will travel to New Plymouth, the site of their third Vodacom Super Rugby tour match, for Friday morning’s match against the Hurricanes at Yarrow Stadium for a 9.35am (South African time) kick-off.
There have been just two enforced changes made by coach John Plumtree to the side that defeated the Brumbies in Canberra last Saturday, one in the front row and the other amongst the outside backs.
Louis Ludik has come onto the wing in place of Odwa Ndungane who we reported earlier has been flown home after suffering an Adductor (groin) strain at training on Tuesday while Bismarck du Plessis, who also suffered an injury in training, has passed a late fitness test on a quadriceps muscle strain and will play, although it will be off the bench.
He has started every game of the season and played every minute of the team’s eight hours (plus extra time) of match action so far, while Craig Burden who has been champing at the bit, gets his first start of the season at hooker in the other change to the starting line-up.
Patrick Lambie will not play this weekend which means the rest of the backline, aside from Ludik at wing, remains unchanged. Ludik’s place on the bench will be filled by either Marius Joubert or Paul Jordaan – both have been bracketed in the number 22 jersey.
