Blue Bulls men and Border women win SARU Interprovincial Sevens
The Blue Bulls men and Border A women’s teams were crowned the SARU Interprovincial Sevens champions at West Coast School in Saldanha on Saturday after winning the Cup Finals at the annual tournament.
The tournament, which featured 16 men’s teams and 18 women’s teams, started on Friday with the pool stages, which determined which sides advanced to the Plate and Cup semifinals on Saturday.
The Blue Bulls defeated defending champions the Leopards 40-28 in the men’s final to take top honours following their respective victories in the semifinals against Western Province and Boland.
The Border women’s A team, meanwhile, thumped Free State 33-0 in a one-sided final , which capped off a fantastic year for women’s rugby in East London as the 15-a-side team won the SARU Women’s Interprovincial tournament for the second season in a row earlier this year.
