Blues Rescued
The Blues Rugby squad had to be rescued when their Kayaks capsized during a fitness session.
The team had planned to paddle almost 5km from Takapuna Beach to Rangitoto Island.
Almost 30 players ended up in the water and were rescued by emergency officials and a nearby yacht.
John Kirwan said in a statement that the event was run by experienced personnel and that at no stage were the players in any danger. He thanked those who assisted.
The Coastguard confirmed that everybody was accounted for, safe and dry on shore.
