A team of BNZ Crusaders players will take on an All Stars team packed with Olympic talent at the 34th Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand (CFNZ) Charity Cricket match this Sunday.

Halfback Mitchell Drummond will captain the Crusaders team in the 20/20 match, as they aim to repeat last year’s win.  This year they will take on an All Stars team led by Olympic bronze medallist Tom Walsh, who will swap his shotput for a cricket bat.  He is joined by Rugby Sevens star Sam Dickson, four-times Olympian javelin thrower Stu Farquhar, shot putter Dale Stevenson, hockey Olympian Bradley Shaw, Paralympians Rory McSweeney, Byron Raubenheimer and William Stedman, former Crusader Cameron McIntyre, as well as some past cricket talent in Chris Harris, Debbie Hockley, Kirsty Bond, and future cricket stars Louie Chapman and Ben Donkers from the Christchurch Boys High School First XI.

In addition to the cricket and the chance to meet some of the region’s top sporting talent, the free family day out also includes bouncy castles, autograph signings, kapa haka, a charity auction, a lucky balloon fundraiser, and a children’s cricket academy.  All funds raised go to supporting CFNZ’s mission to improve the quality of life for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.  Last year’s event raised $21,000 for CFNZ.

The event runs from 11am – 3pm this Sunday 11 December at Christchurch Boys’ High School.
