The Vodacom Bulls’ Super Rugby preparation has been dealt a blow with Bok star Francois Hougaard ruled out for at least four weeks.

Hougaard picked up a stress fracture during this week’s practice sessions and will now be sidelined for four weeks. He will miss all of the Bulls’ warm up matches and is now in a race against time to be fit for the Super Rugby opener on 19 February against the Lions in Johannesburg.

“Francois experienced some pain in his foot on Monday and it became worse later in the week. A scan revealed the fracture,” team doctor Org Strauss confirmed.

Francois Hougaard is a product of Paul Roos and made his first class debut for the Western Province in 2007 before he moved to the Pretoria based team.
