The Boland Cavaliers have announced a strong starting XV to face the Griffons in Welkom in their first Absa Currie Cup First Division match of the season on Saturday 7 June 2014.
At the Boland Cavaliers Black Tie, Awards and Auction evening on Wednesday night (06/06/2014), it was announced that Boland’s professional team will no longer play in their trademark Black and Pink strip, that has been the official team colours since 2012. Instead they have welcomed back the traditional Black and Gold colours (with the White and Gold ‘Away Kit’), which they will wear in the match against the Griffons on Saturday.
New signings Gavin Annandale (Blindside Flank), Ryno Coetzee (Eighth Man), Monty Dumond (Fly Half), Richard Lawson (Outside Centre) and Duwayne Smart (Wing) will debut for the Cavaliers in the starting XV, with Yves Bashiya (Lock/Flank), Jason Fraser (Loose Forward), Deroy Rhode (Scrum Half) and Nathaniel Manuel (Wing) doing duty from the reserves bench.
Seasoned veteran Franzel September (Flank) will captain the team.
