Boland Cavaliers team vs Steval Pumas | Boland Stadium, Wellington | Friday 2 September 2016
The Boland Cavaliers have been bolstered by the return of Zandré Jordaan and Jacques Engelbrecht, two of the team’s most dangerous ball-carriers, for their Currie Cup Premier Division clash against the Steval Pumas on Friday 2 September 2016 at the Boland Stadium in Wellington.
Jordaan (calf strain) and Engelbrecht (groin strain) both missed last weekend’s match against the Golden Lions at Emirates Airline Park due to injuries. Jordaan replaces Wayne Wilschut in the starting line-up at eighth-man, while Engelbrecht’s inclusion at flank sees Shaun McDonald making a positional switch to lock, in place of Hanno Kitshoff. Wilschut and Kitshoff have both been named as reserves for this match.
The Cavaliers will once-again be without the accurate boot of Nico Scheepers, as the fullback is still recovering from an ankle strain. Scheepers is expected to return to training next week.
Three more regulars in Boland’s weekly match day squads, Jovelian de Koker (scrum-half, groin strain), Francois Hanekom (prop, concussion) and Sergio Torrens (wing, quad strain) were also not considered because of injuries.
Utility back Gerrit van Wyk will get a rare start at right wing in the place of Torrens, while centre Robbie Louw, son of former Springbok loose-forward Rob Louw, has been included on the bench.
