The SA Rugby Women’s Interprovincial competition delivered a solid day’s action on Saturday with defending champions, Border, remaining the only unbeaten side in the A Section, while the Golden Lions, Griquas, and SWD kicked off the B Section with victories.

In the A Section Border defeated Western Province 15-10 in Cape Town to extend their unbeaten run to three matches, with a successful conversion and penalty goal by the Eastern Cape side proving to be the difference on the scoreboard as each side scored twice, while Eastern Province outscored KZN five tries to two in Port Elizabeth for their 30-14 victory, which marked their second win of the season.

In the B Section, meanwhile, the Golden Lions registered a memorable 92-5 victory against the Leopards in Potchefstroom thanks to a fine performance all-around, while Griquas defeated Boland 26-10 in Namaqualand, and SWD beat the Griffons 29-17 in Welkom.

The Golden Lions’ impressive attacking display earned them 16 tries, with Refilwe Ramahlo touching down four times and Kimico Manuel and Abegail Jantjies three times each, while SWD and the Griffons also produced solid performances with five and four tries respectively steering them to victory.

The Pumas and Limpopo Blue Bulls will meet the other B Section match on Women’s Day on Wednesday as a curtain-raiser to the Currie Cup match between the Steval Pumas and Toyota Free State Cheetahs at the Mbombela Stadium.
