The Boland Rugby Union today announced that Dewey Swartbooi will take charge of the Boland Cavaliers as senior provincial coach during the Absa Currie Cup competition in 2015.

The decision to appoint Swartbooi was made by Boland Rugby’s board of directors, as a successor to former head coach Abe Davids. Swartbooi has been an assistant coach at the Boland Cavaliers since 2012.

Swartbooi has played Super Rugby for the Bulls and the Cats and also played for the Boland Cavaliers from 2006 to 2010. He also represented the SA U21 team that won the IRB Junior World Cup tournament in 2002.

Randall Modiba has been named backline coach of the Boland Cavaliers, while Andries Human will assist the team in a part-time role as a forwards consultant.

Modiba has been involved with the Boland Rugby Union since 2004 where he has achieved success with the union’s junior teams on several occasions. He was also part of the SARU BRU Academy’s coaching team in 2013 and 2014.

Human is a former Blue Bulls (2003 – 2006) and Boland Cavaliers (2001 – 2003 and 2006 – 2008) player and also represented the South African A team in 2004.

The Boland Cavaliers will kick off their Absa Currie Cup campaign against the Griffons at Malmesbury Rugby Club on Saturday 13 June 2015.
