The Free State Woman’s Rugby team won the SARU Provincial B-League the last three years and was promoted to the A-division for 2017.  One of the prerequisites of the promotion is that Woman’s Rugby has to have a formal club structure in the Free State.  Therefore a club league has to be started which will firstly kick-off with Sevens Rugby followed by 15’s code later the year.

All women’s players between the ages of 18 and 40 who are interested in playing rugby are invited to become part of the following “clubs”:

Heidedal Woman’s Rugby Club       –              Contact person:  Sammy Prins at 084 071 4464

(Everyone who is interested has to report at the Clive Solomon Stadium on Saturday, 11 February at 15:00)

Tempe Woman’s Rugby                      –              Contact person:   Bernice Strydom at 076 646 9096

(The woman already started on Monday, 6 February but everyone who is interested can join in on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 19:00)

CUT Woman’s Rugby                            –              Contact Persons:   Frans Siseta at 061 059 7072 OR Emely Tembe at 072 524 0862

(Everyone who is interested can report at the CUT Stadium on Thursday, 9 February for the first training session at 18:00)

MANGAUNG Women’s Rugby Club        –             Contact persons:  Thembela Sibizo at 074 669 2723 OR Lerato Manjiya at 084 225 0029

(Interested players will be training at the Outdoor Sports Centre in Rocklands on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:00.  Players who have trouble with transport can meet at 17:30 at the Masenkeng Rugby fields in Batho from where they will be transported to the Outdoor Sport Centre for training.

UFS  –  no club has been formed yet.  Everyone interested in playing can contact Goldie Tlake at 072 832 1476.  She will take the details of prospective players and inform them as soon as the club has been formed.

  • It is important to note that two SEVENS tournaments will be hosted where these clubs will be participating.  The dates are 11 and 18 March.
  • Prospective players can also contact the Union and talk to Lerato Manjiya for more information.
