18 May 2016, London: Today the world’s top rugby sevens players officially launched the HSBC London Sevens, round 10 of the 2015/16 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

The captains assembled at Twickenham Stadium – the Home of England Rugby – which will host the finale of this year’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May.

stalls and offering incredible cuisine from many of the competing nations in this year’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series across the weekend.

Saturday tickets for this year’s HSBC London Sevens have now sold out, but fans will be pleased to know that there are limited tickets for Sunday still available.

This year’s event welcomes the 15 core teams, plus the host nation of the forthcoming Olympic Games, Brazil. With the sport of sevens exploding all over the world, the weekend will be full of non-stop action, with tries galore and a festival atmosphere in the stands.

Speaking at the launch, England Sevens Captain Tom Mitchell said: “The HSBC London Sevens always means a lot to us as a squad. It’s an honour to play at Twickenham in front of a home crowd and have their support. We’re all really looking forward to competing this weekend and can’t wait to see what this year’s Feast of Rugby theme has to offer!”

WEEKEND INFORMATION

This year sees some exciting changes to the HSBC London Sevens by welcoming Urban Food Fest to the West Fan Village, opening at 9:00am. Urban Food Fest cook up a storm every Saturday in London and Manchester and will be bringing their incredible vendors to Twickenham for its first ever food festival. A limited number of Sunday tickets are still available.

Rugby Sevens fans and food lovers alike are encouraged to come along to Twickenham’s West Fan Village to sample some of the incredible food and entertainment that’s on offer, all alongside the world-class rugby sevens that will be taking place on-pitch. There will also be live music, interviews with players, on-stage games, inflatables for the kids and picnic areas.

If you fancy taking a break from the fast paced action on the pitch, then check out HSBC’s World of Sport located in the West Fan Village. Test yourselves in the rugby, golf and tennis skill games against the HSBC rugby legends to win fun prizes and sign up for an exclusive coaching clinic.

Heathrow Express will unveil a giant England Rugby Sevens shirt on the Twickenham pitch before each England match on Saturday and will be inviting ten lucky competition winners to present the shirt.

Samsung will be offering fans the chance to get closer to the action than ever before at this year’s HSBC London Sevens with the incredible Samsung Slider. The innovative new viewing experience enables fans to keep up with the action on a bespoke seating unit which slides along the length of the Twickenham side-line at speeds of up to 30 km/h.

DHL are providing a unique ball delivery service for this year’s HSBC London Sevens, delivering the official match ball for all 45 matches, as it has done for every other leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

While the action off field will be keeping fans entertained across the weekend, it’s in the stadium that really matters. With tries and tunes in equal measure, full speed action, amazing skills and a fantastic atmosphere to boot, you can expect to be a part of an absolutely thrilling tournament.
