Carfind.co.za Iqhawe Week to kick off on exciting note
The fifth edition of the Under-15 Carfind.co.za Iqhawe Week will kick off on an exciting note at the Bill Jardine Stadium in Johannesburg on Monday with a series of thrilling matches lined up throughout the day.
In the opening encounters, Western Province, who went down in the final match last season, will meet KZN, and the Blue Bulls take on the Leopards respectively, while hosts, the Golden Lions, will kick off their campaign later in the day against Free State.
The grand finale of the opening day’s play will see SWD, who took top honours in the tournament last season, go up against the Griffons.
Fourteen teams will participate in the tournament, which features matches on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and similarly to the other SA Rugby Youth Weeks, the teams deemed to have played the best rugby throughout the tournament will meet in the final match on Thursday.
The Carfind.co.za Iqhawe Week was established in 2013 and is a joint venture between SA Rugby and the SA Rugby Legends Association.
The tournament offers players from rural, lower-league and non-traditional rugby schools an opportunity to participate in a high-level provincial competition with the objective of creating a pathway for them to advance through SA’s rugby structures.
