Castle Lager crowns ultimate Springbok SuperFans
Castle Lager has crowned its Springbok SuperFans in a tightly contested “scrum-off” held at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium during halftime when our very own Springboks took on the New Zealand All Blacks on the 20th of August.
Five friends from Cape Town namely, Johan de Wet, Oliver Ivan Greeff, Jan Paul Carstens, Gideon Jacobus Burger and Anthonie Jacobus Lombard displayed their strength as they beat four other teams from all over the country in a tough competition that saw them scrumming a heavy duty Bakkie filled with 46 cases of Castle Lager over a 40m distance in the fastest time. The winning team of friends not only took home the coveted title of being named the ultimate Springbok SuperFans but they also won the grand prize of an all expenses paid trip to New Zealand to accompany the Boks as they take on the world in September this year.
“Our SuperFan journey has come full circle with the crowning of the Springbok Superfans. We started in 2010 with the Castle Lager Bafana Bafana Superfans who supported the national team during the world cup. We then crowned the Castle Lager Protea SuperFans earlier this year and now we have chosen our Springbok Superfans,” said Errol Madlala, Sponsorship Manager for Castle Lager. “This exciting journey Castle Lager has set on to find the ultimate Springbok SuperFans has started something greater than just a trip to New Zealand. As September draws closer, we’d like to remind every South African that it is time to come together and rally behind the boys and help them on their way to glory. Congratulations to the winning team, we look forward to seeing you in New Zealand.”
